PARIS - The route for the 2027 Tour de France was announced in Paris on Thursday, according to a Reuters report carried by The Guardian. The announcement covered next year's route, the report said.
According to the Guardian's report, the 2027 race will include British stages and time-trials. Edinburgh will host the most northerly start of the 2027 Tour de France, and the Pyrenees will provide the competitive finale of the route, the report said.
The Tour de France Femmes, the women's race, will conclude on the Puy de Dôme, a volcano, the Guardian reported. The same report said a director had labelled a Wales test as "Liège-Bastogne-Liège." The summary of the report does not give further detail on that test.
BBC News reported separately that the full 2027 route was announced in Paris and that street-by-street details of six stages in the UK were revealed, in a piece published by BBC News.
The two accounts differ on the number of British stages. The Guardian's summary refers to British stages without giving a count, while the BBC put the number at six. Both reports describe the Paris announcement and both place British stages within the same 2027 route.
